Strawberry Mousse, Beet and Mâche Salad with Citrus Dressing, French 75, Gougères, Vin de Citron Reviews
“Emily in Paris” Cookbook by Kim Laidlaw
The cookbook is a true delight. I have enjoyed all the recipes I’ve tasted and was told the drinks were good (if not strong!).
Strawberry Mouse
4 stars
Fairly straightforward and easy to make with the small ingredient list. You really just need time to let the mousse sit. Subtle strawberry flavor and a great end to a meal.
Beet and Mâche Salad with Citrus Dressing
3.5 stars
A good salad with tasty dressing base. I unfortunately did not have enough watercress (already a sub!) so I had to supplement with romaine. The dressing and the beets still shine.
French 75
N/A
Strong gin base with lemon and simple syrup additions. I was told it was very strong. Pretty drink though!
Gougères
5 stars
I read this recipe and thought “Simple. I can do this,” and while I could make them, the process was more taxing than I had anticipated. But, my goodness, the results! They bake so beautifully. And the taste! So airy and light with a hint of the Gruyère. Just delicious.
Vin de Citron

This one takes awhile to sit. I do like a labor of intrigue and love so I do hope it’s enjoyable to those who give it a try. The mixing of wine, vodka (again, another substitution), with lemon and vanilla sounds refreshing.
Overall, I feel like this one may be a must buy for me. I was able to check the ebook out from the library app Hoopla and it was so worth it to try these fabulous recipes.
